We write a specification document to describe the project. The specification document lists the functions of the proposed system in non-technical language. It is written in partnership with a client appointed steering committee. Ideally, the steering committee will be made of a representative/user from each key business division.
The functional specification becomes our worksheet and the client’s checklist. In addition to the functional items, training and installation will also form part of the specification document. At the conclusion of the planning stage a fixed cost quotation and project time frame is handed to the client.
Our development approach is "partnership based" - which means
we work with your methods, calculations and processes and build from them an information system that will yield the numbers you already have a feel for.
Our goal is to develop a solution that exactly matches the procedures, calculations and methods specified by our clients. In short, we turn the clients ideas into an information system.
The “deliverables” of this method are the Formal Quote/Proposal and the Functional Specification.
The Formal Quote is a commitment of cost and time frame to develop solution in the Functional Specification.
The Functional Specification is a detailed document that describes the system, how it works, and all its functional aspects. It is the “blueprint” of the system and can be used as a checklist for the client.
